Relapse Prevention

“Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something and that this thing must be attained.”  – Marie Curie

Having a purpose in life moves us to action.  When we do what we enjoy most we enjoy what we do!  Once in awhile a person will ask me why do you not teach a lesson on relapse prevention?  The answer is simple, when you follow your plan of action in life, relapse is not an option.  The methods for relapse prevention are the same as the methods for continued sobriety.    Why put the option into someones head or thinking?  Relapse is not required in the recovery process.  I look back at my early years of recovery, there were people that came into the program at approximately the same time as I have and remain clean and sober to this day.  Imagine being 49 years old and sober for 30 years!  Yet it is true, I have several friends that fit that category!

Having a direction plan in our lives is essential for continued growth as a human being.  People that have drug and alcohol addictions are human beings.  People that are content with life have a purpose in life.  They live according to their values and purpose.  Individuals in addiction recovery that have implemented and live the principles of recovery, the steps or path to freedom, live their lives content and joyfully.  Relapse is not an option nor is it a necessity!

Go, Go, Go…
