It is all about change. Without change we wither and die. People ask me why don’t you write more about relapse prevention? My answer is, that is exactly what I do. When we are proactive in our recovery and life when we are changing for the better we are preventing relapse. In the Bible Jesus says, “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins” Mark 2:22. We must change our way of life, our thinking, the things we do. I do not know much about wineskin however what I do not is that an old skin will wither and leak. It is not much good if it leaks. Our recovery is similar we must become new.
Our old way of thinking is to say “I can’t”. I got on a kick with my two youngest sons that if they ever said “I can’t” I would make them do some push ups for me. We must change “I can’t” into “I am”. I am living a healthy, prosperous, clean and sober life. There will be times when “I can’t” returns but when we catch it we do our push ups. We shake it off, exchange the thought with a positive one and we start anew!
Please have a safe and happy holiday weekend.
Life is gooooood!
