The Storm

“Times of general calamity and confusion have ever been productive of the greatest minds. The purest ore is produced from the hottest furnace, and the brightest thunderbolt is elicited from the darkest storm.” – Charles Caleb Colton

It is always a wonderful thing to hear from our friends especially those people that helped you weather the storm!  I received this message from my good friend, spiritual mentor through the years and the man that put his hand out to me and my family during the early days of my recovery.  Brother Jack Moylan, OSF is the Director of Prison Ministry and Criminal Justice Affairs for the Diocese of Rockville Centre, NY.  He has been a rock in my life, certainly a better friend to me than I have been to him over the years!

Hello Dan,
Once again I appreciate hearing from you via e-mail (which I never use!) and to know you are well and continuing to live out your God-given calling to be an instrument of healing and recovery in the lives of other people as you continue to experience that in your own life.

I am glad you are continuing to advance the cause of “last resort” with the ability to become a not-for-profit, tax exempt corporation.   We have done the same with our more recent program “Beginning A New Life, Inc.”  with the establishment of the New Life Center in Centereach (transitional services for successful community re-entry after a period of incarceration).

I wish you and all your loved ones (how is your mom doing?) the very best of “Christmas Blessings” for the Christmas Season 2009 and “Health and Happiness” for New Year 2010!
Be well!
Your faithful friend,
Jack Moylan
A friend for sure.   Life is good and recovery has offered me and will offer you the same, friendships that offer love and encouragement.  Friendships that look for nothing in return.  Encouragement when it is needed most!
I wish you all friendship, love and wisdom!
Dan 🙂

I received this information from a friend in Christ Jesus – he is also a recovering addict of drugs and he attends my church. I work for a county office where I cannot refer my clients to Jesus – but I have already helped in teenager through Christ and would like to do more. I want to refer another man to the New Life Center – he is at the Yaphank Facility – it is difficult to do this at work so I would like to do this personnally.
I hope I will get a response, so I can help this man find the freedom he is looking for and the help he needs. God Bless
