Spiritual Progress not Spiritual Perfection

“The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself.”
– Anna Quindlen

As a man of recovery, a leader and a teacher it is difficult to not be critical of myself when I make a mistake.  Yet, from the start of my recovered life I have had some great sponsors, mentors and friends that remind me that it is not about perfection.    More importantly, to maintain a healthy outlook on the daily grind we strive for a sense of perfection but accept our 100% effort as such.

Simply staying focused on the big picture carries us through our challenges and failures.  Having a plan for each day keeps us focused on our daily important tasks that will lead us to our long term success.      We stay sharp by practicing our ABC’s of recovery.  Always be positive, Be a student of life, and Cheer-lead other people.

The mark of successful recovery is happiness within.  Happiness is the result of practicing these principles in all of our affairs!

Peace,

Dan 🙂
