Self Development

“Of all the things that can have an effect on your future, I believe personal growth is the greatest. We can talk about sales growth, profit growth, asset growth, but all of this probably will not happen without personal growth.”  Jim Rohn

Self development is an essential aspect to sustained joy.  Self development is the desire to grow along the Spiritual, vocational, emotional, physical and social aspects of life.  In fact the “B” of the A.B.C.’s of recovery is “Be a Student of Life”.  We should never stop growing!  If we are not growing we are dying.  It is nearly impossible to remain static in our development as a human being.

When it comes down to it when a recovered individual relapses the underlying issue is always an issue of growth.  People in a 12 step program will point to “he/she stopped going to meetings”.  No matter what excuse you can find I will tear it down and show you it is the result of regression in the area of self development.  100% of the time.

Self development is developing positive strategies in all aspects of our lives.  Focusing on what we want and where we are heading in all areas of life.  Over 10 years ago I began to shift my self development work from the self help perspective to the self development perspective.  Often authors, therapists and other professionals of the self help model focused on the starting point of what is wrong with the individual.  The self development philosophy focused on what is right and where do I go from here?

If we focus on our strengths and where we want to go, the results will astonish you!

Go, Go, Go…

Dan 🙂
