“Don’t carry a grudge. While you’re carrying a grudge, the other guy’s out dancing.” – Buddy Hackett
Resentment will keep us held down. I cannot afford resentment in my recovered life. I separate myself from God, humanity and joy when I carry a grudge. I learned an extremely effective prayer very early on in my recovery to ward off the threat of resentment. Yes resentment is a threat that I cannot afford to have in my life. The prayer was shared by a popular fellow in the self help groups of Nassau and Suffolk County, Duff! It was a simple prayer that I continue to utilize today to ward off the resentment. “God please give _______ everything I want and more”! I have since added “Thank you and I Love You”!
Simply attempting to “let it go” leaves the door open for resentment. This prayer has been a life saver for me, because any time I think of the offense or offender I simply say the prayer. It is freeing to me and I truly believe it is freeing for the other individual. I really do want them to get everything I want in life and more.
Peace, Go, Go, Go…
