“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.”
– Michelangelo Buonarroti
Setting goals is essential in life. We are here for a flicker. Too many of us settle for mediocre lives. I could quote Henry David Thoreau all day on this topic but this comes to mind; If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.
We need hope to recover, I believe we must love and be loved as well. I remember in “The Strangest Secret” Earl Nightingale states that out of 100 people at the age of 65 only 5 have achieved their dreams, the rest are still working, indigent, and often miserable. For the alcoholic or addict this is dangerous.
I am not talking strictly financial if you have listened to the audio you know that success is doing the thing you love and doing it well. Wealth does not define our lives, purpose defines our lives. In the beginning we suggest to the unemployed or the directionless individual to go get a sobriety job. Get something that you can do that will bring in cash to meet your basic needs. But, never take your eye off the mark, recovery, abstinence, direction and purpose!
Go, Go, Go…
