How We Spend Our Lives

“How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.”

– Annie Dillard

We all have the same 24 hours per day, 1440 minutes to do with as we choose.  How we spend that time is totally up to us.  If it is going to be it is up to me!  We must choose what we do with our time, invest in our lives and not waste our lives.

The “B” in our ABC’s of recovery suggests that we maintain the spirit of a student.  Always learning.  If we focus on personal development life gets better and better and better.  I have had folks suggest to me that they do not have time for personal development.  Lets take a look at the numbers:

There is 168 hours per week.  Lets take 56 away for sleep, 50 away for work that leaves us a balance of 54 hours.  A meeting or service a day for 2 hours with travel included is 14 with 40 hours remaining to do as we choose!  Family, friends, fun, and yes some additional self-development.

Try this during your travel time spend 1/2 of your time on self-development, that is, listening to audios of self-improvement material.  Use at least ¼ of that time making phone calls to your recovery support. And go ahead waste the balance.

Life is meant to be enjoyed and if you look at the time factor we are here for a flicker!  Invest it wisely for family, fun, and getting better!

Go, Go, Go…
