I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let’s face it, friends make life a lot more fun.   Charles R. Swindoll

Without a doubt there is a social paradigm to life.  If you are old enough you will remember Grizzly Adams, the fellow that lived in the wilderness.  I do not remember all the particulars however, I must say as a drunk I remember thinking, “screw this, I will just disappear somewhere in the hills and live my life alone”!  Most of us have had these same or similar thoughts.  But the truth of the matter is we need people, we need friends, we need social supports.

In recovery our positive social supports begin to replace the negative influences and “influence-ors” that plagued us.  We begin to develop social supports and strategies that keep us focused o the main thing, “the recovered life”.  Whether your support comes from the fellowship of AA, NA CR, Church, online, or any other way or group you bond with having positive social supports and friendships are essential to your joy!

Go, Go, Go…

Dan 🙂
