Forgiveness

The last thing I want to do is hurt you, but it’s still on my list.  Winston Churchill

Made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends…  Winston Churchill was full of witty quotes when I saw this one it made me think of the Eighth Step.  We are all aware of the mantra, “we are not striving for spiritual perfection rather we strive for spiritual progress.”  The Eighth Step and of course more pointedly, the Ninth Step falls into this category.  Often for the recipient’s welfare, we are best to save or utilize a different approach to making an amends.   A direct apology could be more harmful than helpful.

So whether you are in a Twelve Step mutual support group or not, somewhere down the line you will address the wrongs you have done to others.  When that time comes it is best to have an outsiders perspective as well.  Your goal is to clear the wreckage and do no additional harm!  So utilizing a mentor or sponsor is helpful and quite frankly, highly recommended.

Go, Go, Go…
