I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let’s face it, friends make life a lot more fun. Charles R. Swindoll
There is nothing like the fellowship of mutual support groups such as AA, NA, and CA. Having people that truly care about you can really make the difference. Feeling part of a whole rather then just a slice of pie wandering aimlessly waiting to get swallowed up can be the difference between success and not successful yet!
But and this is a huge BUT, fellowship is only part of the puzzle. We must do the work. A complete psychic change is needed. It should not be confused with the feeling you acquire when you complete your fifth step. When you know that you are IN the program, when you know you are sober! When you share with your sponsor and your sponsor reciprocates. When someone that has walked the walk before you lets you in to their world you in turn will begin to let others into your world. Without doing the work the fellowship is not what it can be for you.
I love the fellowship and quite frankly have never experienced more amazing and powerful love, compassion and kindness then I have in South Florida on such a big scale. My community in Panama was awesome but nothing as extensive as South Florida in particular Southeast Palm Beach County. Life is gooooood!!!
