Fear or Responsibility?

“Courage is doing what you’re afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you’re scared.”

– Eddie Rickenbacker
Fear, unless you have been living under a rock or you are new to recovery you have heard the acronym FEAR, False Evidence Appearing Real!  What a wonderful way to look at it.  However, the truth of the matter is Fear is a natural purpose for us as human be-comings.  It is a barometer of sorts Fear stirs up “Fright” and we react via “Fight or Flight”, yes I was listening in 7th grade to that one!    What we do with it is what matters.  Experience tells us we should look at it and evaluate the feeling to determine our next move.  Reacting has put us in jeopardy in the past.   If we use the “I” over “E” method, “Intellect over Emotion” we can make better choices.  We can determine that yes, this is “False Evidence Appearing Real”!
The recovered life is an opportunity to use our positive and negative past experiences to our advantage.  We call this growing up!  Many of us have kept the mindset of teenagers.  We focus on the fun and forget that we have significant responsibilities to become responsible adults.  Life is meant to be enjoyed and not to be endured, in a responsible and moral way.
Life is gooooood….
Go, Go, Go…
