Faith is not faith without doubt

“Our doubts are traitors, And make us lose the good we oft might win, By fearing to attempt.” William Shakespeare

Living the recovered life offers us a second chance at life.  In active addiction our fear ruled our lives.  Fear spoke we listened.  Fear was in charge and we acted based upon what it said to do.  As we recovered we began to learn that FEAR was nothing more than False Evidence Appearing Real.  We set out to become or to do something special in our lives and our “belly barometer” went off and we ended up giving up before we ever started.  Our doubts are traitors!

One of my morning affirmations is “Most of the arguments I have are with myself.  So when I get down I will use the famous GOYA formula for guaranteed success!!!”  I had to learn that the key to overcoming my fear is faith and the key to faith is action.  I was told early on in my recovery that faith without doubt is not faith, if there was no doubt it would be knowledge.  Faith is believing and trusting when my doubts say don’t!  The key for me is the GOYA formula, Get Off My Anatomy!  I must act, without action I allow fear to paralyze me.  Fear has no grip on me when I take action, I take action based upon my faith.  For me my faith lies within and on God.

Go, Go, Go…

Dan 🙂
