“Character isn’t inherited. One builds it daily by the way one thinks and acts, thought by thought, action by action. If one lets fear or hate or anger take possession of the mind, they become self-forged chains.” — Helen Douglas
Implementing the Steps is much more than just taking the Steps! I have worked with folks that take the Steps as if they are a duty or a badge of honor that has been accomplished. Then there are those that implement the steps into their daily lives. Steps 10, 11, and 12 are the daily compilation of Steps 1 through 9. When we live with insight, and take action based upon these principles we build character.
Every time we implement Step 10, where we make amends immediately, we move further away from the behavior that caused the negative action we took. As we implement these disciplines into our lives we begin to live happy, joyous and free. We no longer carry resentment and pent up anger towards others. Yes we get angry but we learn to eradicate the anger through the principles of action we take! Life is good!
