“Challenges make you discover things about yourself that you never really knew. They’re what make the instrument stretch — what makes you go beyond the norm.”
– Cicely Tyson
I do not think there is any greater challenge that we face then the challenge of overcoming addiction for the addict. We learn through the recovery process that we are capable of much more then we ever imagined possible. We learn we can stretch further than we have ever. We become more flexible and prudent in our decision making skills. We learn to strive for excellence yet we keep tabs by our progress and not a perception of perfection.
We begin to look to others for help and to help. We offer our love when in the past we looked for love. We develop friendship and camaraderie rather than a pretentious set of acquaintances and selfish reliances on others. We become selfless rather than selfish. All through the great challenge of overcoming addiction and alcoholism! Life is gooooood!!!
Go, Go, Go…
