I am looking for a lot of men who have an infinite capacity to not know what can’t be done. ~ Henry Ford
When we start out on the recovery journey believing that we can stay sober and live a happy life seems extremely out of reach. In the beginning we get frustrated and regress back to negative thinking. We start thinking how we will never be happy we think things like, “if this is what life is all about I might as well stay drunk or high.” But the truth is, in the beginning it is difficult sorting out the mess. It is tough to imagine ever being happy without partying.
But when we take it one day at a time we begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We commit to staying clean and sober on a daily basis. We learn that what we believed was an impossible situation becomes a faded memory. The “musts” become less and less urgent. What is a “must”? Thoughts that overwhelm us of what we “must” do or else! As we progress on the journey life gets better and better and better, cause life is good!
Go, Go, Go…
