Be a difference maker!

“I have an irrepressible desire to live till I can be assured that the world is a little better for my having lived in it.”  – Abraham Lincoln

All my life I wanted to do something special.  I have always had this burning desire to be a helper.  I gain pleasure from helping folks in the day-to-day grind as well as getting focused on their future.  Yesterday I met with a family, two fairly young parents and their twenty-year old daughter.  The mother had called me in the morning asking for some advice in how they could help their daughter who is a binge drinker.  We agreed to meet together because their seemed to be some reservation to whether the daughter needed rehab or not.

Quite honestly at the age of twenty it is hit or miss.  So we met and discussed options and history the normal stuff.   I tried to listen and be a comfort rather than spew my opinion on everyone.   We talked for about an hour and they left with some information to chew on.

This morning I received a wonderful note of thanks:

Good Morning Daniel,

I just had to say Thank you again. After we left and got in the car my daughter did not say one thing about you that was negative. And usually she doesn’t trust anyone. We all for the first time felt like someone honestly cared. You are a wonderful person and we thank you for taking the time to listen to us and give us some good advice.

I will be trying to make the call today to your friend on the other coast and see if that is an option for us. I will let you know the outcome.

Have a Wonder day,

I want you to know that I am not saying this to point to me or for the idea of what a good job we do.  I am saying it because each and every one of us has a gift.  Each and every one of us wants to be appreciated.  Each and every one of us needs to search out our calling and go make it happen.  Be “impactful” in this world!

Go, Go, Go…

Dan 🙂
