A spiritual life is a happy life

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”  – Mahatma Gandhi

From the time I was a kid my main goal was “Happiness”. I wanted to be happy. I hated being sad. As I got older and started drinking and drugging I was happy when I was partying. In fact, that is all I cared about, to me the world was a party. When I sobered up I equated happiness with having fun; playing golf, going fishing, barbecues, etc… As time went by my definition changed to acquiring things, like money, cars, homes, toys…

Somewhere along the line I began to realize that none of it amounted to anything more than chasing happiness. Yet as good as it had gotten, I knew there was more. Now do not get me wrong, I am not suggesting things or money are wrong to desire, in fact quite the opposite. Remember life is meant to be enjoyed and not to be endured. Life is good and it is ok to have dreams and desires. But those dreams and desires are for enjoyment and not to create happiness.

In fact, I like to equate happiness with spirituality in this case. When what we think, say and do are in harmony and positive we are living spiritually. A spiritual life is a happy life. Enjoy the journey…

Go, Go, Go…

Love the quote and I also agree that to be completely happy there needs to be a level of faith or spirituality in your life.
