A Clear Concise Mental Picture

“Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve. Thoughts are things! And powerful things at that, when mixed with definiteness of purpose, and burning desire, can be translated into riches.” — Napoleon Hill

What does having a clear concise mental picture have to do with recovery?  Besides everything, more than everything.  From the beginning of the recovery process we must begin to develop a view of what we want to be, do and have in our lives.  Many folks come to us and when asked why are you here they respond, “I am tired of living as an addict, I want to be a good parent, spouse, partner, worker, businessman…” fill in the blanks!  This is the “Hope” of living.  To develop the desire to change we must have “Hope”.

When I begin to discuss “The Universal Law’s” people immediately begin to make assumptions that I am suggesting “That Life is all about Money”.  Napoleon Hill’s quote “… can be translated into riches.” may appear to be suggesting the same, however simply change the term “riches” to “an enriched life”.  Now read it and believe it!

Recovery is about “living a healthy, prosperous, clean and sober life, i.e. happiness in all areas of our lives!”

Hey, Dan! Just peeking at your web site because I recommended your center on a LinkedIn Discussion group. Interesting to note that in N. Hill’s writings, he breaks the concept of wealth into 12 categories, and money is the least of those, falling below relationships, spirituality, etc.

Also fun to note that the word “enthusiasm” comes from the greek “en theos” which means ” the God within.”
